Profile
The academic journal "Power of Judgment" is initiated because of the necessity of regular and effective exchange of reflections on politics and morality. To define our intentions more precisely, we are interested in sociological reflection on the phenomenon of the political, both in empirical and theoretical dimensions. As the obliging title implicates our publishing profile, we wish to publish analyses, studies, reports, and essays that monitor, demystify and deconstruct the mechanisms of materialisation and reproduction of power. The Kantian tradition of defining the power of judgment as autonomic, a priori legislative, accompanying all forms of cognition seems to be the most proper to define the primary idea of our journal. We believe that power, wherever constituted and however defined, mainly petrifies the organisation of social life, and sociology cannot be conducted without a maximally broad approach to the phenomenon of power.
Our goal, as editors of the "Power of Judgment", is to widen the range of empirical analyses of both qualitative and quantitative character concerning the phenomenon of the political. At the same time, we expect theoretical studies, which present conceptual apparatuses that help understand political changes. Convinced about the need for interdisciplinary study on the phenomenon of power, we invite academics to write on sociology, psychology, sociobiology, anthropology, ethnography, management studies, demographics, philosophy, and others.
Moreover, as editors, we stress that our main intention is to develop the sociology of politics. That is why, in the first place, we welcome papers rooted in current sociological tradition or those that would argue with it, question its utility or point out the necessity of working out new research tools to practice internalisation, naturalisation and universalisation of governance and management. In other words, we expect papers that reveal the political both in public and private spheres, dispersing in subpolitical formulas, but also rooted in traditional approaches concerning both individuals and communities, influencing the body, and managing public sentiments.
We want the "Power of Judgment" academic journal to become the space for an open and critical exchange of opinions. The popularisation of the sociology of politics as an academic discipline and reflection and research into this field are crucial for the editors. That is why we decided to publish an electronic open-access magazine. It will be free of charge, and its contents will be fully accessible as a PDF file.
Our mission is to foster a high-level academic discourse in both Polish and English, contributing to the development of Polish scientific terminology while actively participating in the international exchange of ideas.
